#cheetochan by Jason Sturgill

Jason Sturgill has a healthy obsession with his cat, Cheeto, which inspires him to draw even if he's not feeling like it. This ginger Scottish Fold kitty is the driving force behind this exhibit which primarily consists of one to four color Risograph prints. Since purchasing an old Risograph machine over a year ago from a church in Gresham for $75, it has quickly become an integral part of his practice. The machine has all sorts of quirks and hiccups that cause each print to be imperfect and slightly different from print to print...not all that unlike Jason's work.

He is an illustrator, designer and educator based in Portland, Oregon with a background in advertising, graphic design and curatorial. Jason holds an MFA in Art and Social Practice from Portland State University.

Among the places that have shown Sturgill's work are the Portland Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Craft, Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, PDX Contemporary Gallery and Broken City Lab.

He has worked commercially with/for Anorak Magazine, Poler, The Quiet Life, Widmer Brothers Brewing, Wieden+Kennedy, Nike, Laika, Dark Horse Comics, Juxtapoz, Portland Mercury, Willamette Week, New Balance, and Modernista!
